2nd Story Studio is a New York City based Photography & Film studio focusing on the intersection of documentary + editorial modalities.
We combine our love of fashion + editorial storytelling with a documentary film background to create heirlooms images. As artists, we see ourselves as your visual collaborators, and pride ourselves in working closely with you to tell your story as you remember it.
FAQ
How do we book you?
Inquire. We hop on a call (it's helpful for us to talk about what's important for your day). 2nd Story Studio sends a proposal (expires within 2 two weeks). Then, it's a 30% retainer and a signed electronic contract to secure your date. Final balance is due 2 weeks before your wedding!
Do you travel?
Absolutely. We are based in New York City and 50% of our couples are outside of the state we live in.
A travel line will be quoted for weddings 20+ miles outside of Brooklyn.
Portrait Sessions
Of course! Portraits are a pillar of the work we do. An easygoing session designed for individuals, couples, family, chosen family, or anyone who wants to look good being themselves.
Note: Couples & engagement sessions are offered exclusively in New York City.
How far in advance should I book?
For elopements, just about 4-6 weeks out.
For weddings, we recommend booking at least 6-12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season (May through October). We only take a limited number of weddings per year to ensure each couple receives our full attention and the highest quality final delivery.
Popular dates, particularly Sept+Oct Saturdays and holiday weekends, book up quickly. If your wedding is less than 6 months away, reach out anyway!
We occasionally have availability for last-minute bookings, and elopements or weekday weddings often have more flexible timelines. The earlier you book, the more time we have to plan the perfect shot list, scout your venue if needed, and ensure your film stock is ordered and ready. Once you're booked, you'll have peace of mind knowing your wedding is in expert hands.
Do you have insurance?
Of course! While 2nd Story Studio's overall vibe is fun and easygoing, this is still a legitimate business with $1,000,000 general liability insurance coverage.
Can totally provide proof to your venue, if they require it.

Curated previews are delivered within a week of your wedding's end (usually sooner). We are too excited not to share.

Jz TINNENY — JUST CALL THEM "JT"
JT started 2nd Story Studio with a simple idea: love stories deserve the storytelling craft of documentary film, with the polished end result of a fashion portrait.
After graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, focusing on documentary filmmaking, JT brought that same eye: patient, observant, drawn to real moments — to wedding days. The result is a style that blends editorial polish with documentary honesty.
Growing up with a wedding planner for a mother, Tinneny has a knack for human interaction and an instinct for catching raw, unscripted emotion. It's earned a reputation for work that's appeared on Over The Moon, Anti Bride, and Interior Design Magazine, for an eye that feels authentic, fresh, and genuinely moving. Tinneny's filmmaking credits include Sundance and Tribeca premieres, Emmy wins, and projects streaming on Netflix, HBO, and Peacock.
In addition to running 2nd Story Studio, JT leads a team of associate photographers & filmmakers, personally training and mentoring each one to bring that same documentary eye and editorial polish to every wedding 2nd Story Studio shoots.
