Getting Ready at The Beekman Hotel
M and N's New York City elopement began in the most romantic way possible - getting ready together at the historic Beekman Hotel in Lower Manhattan. Just five minutes from City Hall, The Beekman provided the perfect elegant backdrop for those quiet, intimate moments before their ceremony.
We captured the energy of their morning: coffee deliveries, N doing an obligatory jump on the bed, some tender moments between the two, and the beautiful chaos of family and friends flowing in and out. There's something magical about documenting a couple during those butterfly-inducing final moments - the tender glances, the way they gravitate toward each other even while getting ready.
The Beekman Hotel is conveniently located 10 minutes walking from Manhattan's Marriage Bureau. An historic landmark in its own, it was completed the same year as the Brooklyn Bridge, 1883. Today, it is home to some of the chicest coffee dates, cocktail hours, and of course wedding festivities.

After getting ready in their suite, but before their mad dash to City Hall, we took M and N down to The Beekman's breathtaking nine-story atrium for portraits. One of the most stunning locations for wedding photography in all of New York City, this architectural masterpiece provided the perfect elegant counterpoint to the spontaneous adventure that would follow.
The atrium's soaring Victorian architecture creates a natural cathedral of light—the pyramidal skylight filters illumination down through all nine floors, casting an ethereal glow on the original 1881 cast-iron railings and terra cotta details. M and N stood beneath that geometric skylight, dressed and ready, stealing a few quiet moments together before the elopement day truly began.
Through the Streets of New York City
The walk from The Beekman to Manhattan City Hall is only five minutes, but M and N's journey was decidedly more urgent. Running late for their appointment, they literally ran through the iconic streets of Lower Manhattan—holding hands, laughing breathlessly, dodging pedestrians and hot dog carts in their wedding attire.
And honestly? It was perfect.We documented every moment: the adrenaline-fueled sprint past century-old buildings, the way they kept looking at each other and laughing despite (or because of) the chaos, the city blurring around them as they raced toward their ceremony. This is what makes eloping in New York City so special: your wedding day isn't some pristine, controlled bubble. It's woven into real life. It lives with the beautiful unpredictability of the city.

M and N sat on the iconic green couch (a must-have for any City Hall elopement), surrounded by dozens of other couples from every walk of life, all there for the same beautiful reason. The ceremony itself was intimate. We documented the tender moments with their mothers, the nervous smiles, and the pure joy when they were officially married. These unscripted moments are what documentary-style wedding photography is all about.
